William Wheeler Reese, son of Solomon Reese and his first wife, was born 1816 on Duck River in Maury Co., Tennessee. He married Frances J. Halbert, daughter of Martin and Susan (Poindexter) Halbert, on 19 July 1838 in Lincoln Co., TN. Frances J. Halbert was born in 1816 in Madison Co., AL and died 10 Feb 1896. She is buried in the Coop-Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield, Arkansas next to her husband William W. Reese who died a few months later on 24 May 1896.

The source for William W. Reese's middle name are his Arkansas homestead land records.

The Goodspeed biography of their son John Reese reveals the following information about William W. and Frances J. Reese:

His [John’s] parents, William W. and Frances J. (Halbert) Reese, were born on Duck River, Maury County, Middle Tenn., and Madison County, Ala., respectively, and were married and made their home in the former State until 1839, at which time they immigrated to Arkansas, locating on a tract of land in Cove Creek Township, Washington County, [Ark] and still make Washington County their home.
